BUILDING SCHOOLS

Since 2011, GACE has been building primary and secondary schools and kindergartens as well as latrines and ensured drinking water for students. Parents, village leaders, and school employees help with the construction and provide materials. Construction of schools are funded in collaboration with  Alaffia, Whole Foods Markets, Earth Fare, Sprouts Farmer’s Market, Mother’s Market, and Presence Marketing.  In total, the Global Alliance for Community Empowerment has built 17 schools.

Thanks to our School Building Partners

Whole Foods Market and Alaffia have contributed to 6 kindergartens
Sprouts Farmers Market and Alaffia helped build the Armande Primary School in 2020.
Mother’s Markets and Alaffia built two schools in 2011 in Tchavade, Togo.
Earth Fare raised funds for a well for the Tchavade school in 2014.
Presence Marketing raised funds for the Tambonga Secondary School built in 2021.

LATRINES

In Africa, half of young girls who drop out of school do so because their school doesn’t have basic toilets (UNICEF). Lack of toilets puts women and girls at risk of shame and makes them a target for sexual assault.

WELLS

Building deep water wells (boreholes) at schools ensures children have access to safe drinking water for a critical part of their day.
One well can provide 500 children with fresh, clean drinking water every day
